Ken Miller Shield 1st leg
Written by Garry Reid

The first leg of the Ken Miller shield was held on the Victoria Pier in torrential rain and near gale force winds, but it didn’t put the fish off as good bags of dogfish were recorded by the fifteen anglers who braved the weather. Right from the start almost everyone was into fish, but as usual the better bags came from the end of the Pier. Fred Crowe caught fourteen dogs to take the win , but he done it the hard way after failing to catch any double shots. Paul Wisbey was next with thirteen caught from the prime corner peg, and it was the better fish he found that edged Paul Chatel into third, after also recording thirteen. Four anglers had eleven dogs apiece but Dave Walls and Martin Young took the final two points positions . Pearse Murphy claimed the pool money and bonus points with the best fish of the day, at just over 2lb.

 1 Fred Crowe 719pts

 2 Paul Wisbey 715pts

 3 Paul Chatel 657pts

 4 Dave Walls 605pts

 5 Martin Young 596pts

There is no official competition this week so one of the popular heaviest fish comps has been arranged around the Peel area, fishing is from 7-10pm
